Setup an addon/pointed domain in hosting account.

First, make sure your nameserver record for your pointed/addon domain is pointing to:
primary nameserver: ns1.hostmonster.com
secondary nameserver: ns2.hostmonster.com

After the domain has resolved to the hosting server (generally takes about 24-48 hours for ISPs to completely pick up the change), you can then login to your hosting account control panel and choose "addon domains" option to setup the domain.

You would then upload your files to the directory that you specified in the addon domain setup process.

Example. Your main domains files would be placed in /public_html/. The addon's files would be located in /public_html/addon/

If you would like to avoid downtime while performing this process, first create a folder within your public_html directory using the same name as your addon domain. (XYZ.com would be /public_html/xyz/) Then, upload all your files for that domain into the new directory. Then, give us a call, and we will set up the shell for that domain to point to your files. Last, point the nameservers to ns1.hostmonster.com, and ns2.hostmonster.com, and you will eliminate downtime altogether.

CGI scripts.

Our LINUX web servers have the capability to run CGI scripts in your own "cgi-bin" directory. Scripts may be written in Perl and CGI languages.

Here are some helpful tips to follow when installing scripts:

1. Upload to your cgi-bin directory to ensure proper file permission settings. All scripts on our server must have permissions set to 755 (rwx-rx-rx). If you need help in changing script permissions, please see the following:
2. Upload in ASCII transfer mode (and NOT BINARY mode)
3. The first line of each script must read: #!/usr/bin/perl
4. Ensure the permissions are set to 755

Hosting accounts are paid for up front. You can cancel your account within the first 30 days and get a full refund. However, if you register a new domain name with your account and choose to cancel after three days of service, $10 will be deducted from the refund for the cost of the domain. You will maintain full ownership of the new domain after you have canceled your hosting with us. After the first 30 days you can still cancel your account any time and receive a pro-rated refund. Setup fees are non-refundable.
